Nutella Dream

110g of Flour
110g of Butter
2 Eggs
110g of Sugar
1/2 Tsp of Baking Powder
1 Tsp of Vanilla Essence
2 Tsp of Coco Powder
Nutella

Pre-Heated Oven at 180°C

This recipe makes 6 cupcakes

  1. The first step is to make the sponge itself. Get a large glass bowl and crack in all of the eggs.
  2. Add 110g of sugar and the 110g of butter. Ideally the butter should be room temperature otherwise place it in the microwave for 20 seconds. Cut the butter into small cubes to make the mixing process easier.
  3. Then add 110g of plain flour, a 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder and a teaspoon of vanilla essence.
  4. For an great chocolatay taste, add 2 tablespoons of coco powder. The best one to use will be found in the cake or sweet department of your supermarket.
  5. Mix all the ingredients with a stand mixer or an electric whisk. Make sure everything is smooth and all the lumps of butter have. Taste the mixture and if the taste of chocolate isn't strong enough, just add another tablespoon.
  6. This recipe should make around 6 cupcakes so put 6 cupcake cases into the cupcake baking tray. Slowly, with a teaspoon, place half the mixture in so that only half of each cupcake case is full.
  7. Now for the piggy part! Dollop a teaspoon of room temperature Nutella in the middle of the mix. Although you'll be tempted to spread it and add more, a nice surprise of nutella in the centre is much better! Don't use any other brand of chocolate spread as it just doesn't taste the same!
  8. Once each cupcake has had a dollop of Nutella, add the rest of the mixture on the top. The mixture should be a finger's width from the top of the case, leaving room for growth.
  9. Put the tray in the oven at 180°C for around 20 minutes.
  10. Scar a cupcake with a short sharp knife, and if after being inside the cupcake the knife is clean, they are ready. Make sure to not over cook the cupcakes as the Nutella inside needs to be still soft.
  11. The best way to finish off these cupcakes is with a thick spread of Nutella on the top. After they've been pulled out of the oven, let them cool down.
  12. When they are at room temperature, spread an even and thick layer of Nutella over each cupcake. You can make a chocolate icing, but honestly using Nutella is quicker, easier and just so much tastier! For a more rugged look, leave little mountain peaks of the spread, rather than flattening it out.
Enjoy!
